Beginning with the pair arguing over ideological differences Logan was sickened by Scott's willingness to lead young mutants into combat , the story devolved into a brutal physical confrontation.
Benjamin Percy and Adam Kubert's Wolverine 9 poignantly digs into the roots of Wolverine's initial dislike of Cyclops with a single throwaway line. The issue sees Logan infiltrate a black market auction selling items bound in superpowered history like Captain America's original mask and Wolverine's Team X partner and close friend Maverick.
An infographic at the end of the issue holds a particularly telling quote Logan made about Maverick that will seem familiar to anyone who's ever read an X-Men comic that featured Wolverine and Cyclops on the team. Wolverine's hatred of so-called "pretty boys" has been prevalent since long before he even met Cyclops. This quote about Maverick is proof enough. Logan has had negative experiences with tall and handsome leader types; when you've been around as long as he has you would have to at some point.
He may be the coolest man in the Marvel Universe , but even Wolverine can be insecure. The Situation - Cyclops' leadership abilities consist of lamenting the fact that all the "old" X-Men decided to dump his ass and making fun of his new teammates.
He probably should have gotten some books on tape to help with that issue. The Situation - Well Jean may have died in a horrific accident piloting a space shuttle, but I obviously need to move on and start seeing other people. The Situation - My girlfriend just died for the second time in a year's span.
Guess its time to jump back on the relationship horse! The Situation - It isn't creepy at all to date and marry a woman who is a clone of your dead girlfriend. The Situation - Cyclops is a lone wolf and a rebel so he isn't going to settle down and help raise a family. Instead he has to stir the pot and try to take back leadership of the X-Men.
Spoiler: He loses. However, one word that Jean Grey might be alive drives him to abandon his family and shack up again with his long dead paramour. Scott Summers must always been in control.
Holding back his optic blasts is a symbol of the life Scott has been forced to lead. Professor Xavier made him team leader. Scott is always living in the Danger Room.
Scott has lost Jean, Madelyne, Nathan. Cyke has held firm despite insults from Wolverine and wavering support from longtime friends. AvX appears to be the end of a powerhouse Marvel romance. As much as I love Jean, Emma is the one true woman for Scott. The Phoenix Force is now divided between Scott and Emma. Scott has been transformed into arrogant cosmic level zealot. I wanted some excuse so it would be easy to redeem Scott and Emma for their actions.
The leader of the X-Men now sits in prison as the most hated man in the Marvel Universe. Cyclops is taking all the blame even though he was right about Hope, The Phoenix and how to save the mutant race.
